My Jazz Story

I was first exposed to jazz by attending Duke Ellington concerts at the Free Trade Hall, Manchester, several years on the trot in the 1960's

My House Concert Story

We have hosted annual Jazz Festivals over the early May Day Bank Holiday weekends in Clitheroe, Ribble Valley, Lancashire, U.K. from our first in 2010. We always aim for a programme that celebrates a diverse selection of musicians/bands, prioritising performances by women, young people, and from minority communities. Probably the best festival gig was the one led by Arun Ghosh who mentored and performed with the BwD Big Band (from Blackburn with Darwen, and comprising young musicians in a band directed by Paul Rigby. On that day in May 2016 audience members came out of The Grand theatre in tears of joy, having enjoyed their 'best ever' jazz gig.
