About Me
I co-wrote clarinetist Perry Robinson's autobiography (The Traveler). I have also written two jazz mysteries: The Grand Man, about an American jazz journalist on assignment in Stockholm, and Dashiki, about a journalist finding the lost tapes from the 1957 Monk-Coltrane gig at the Five Spot. In January 2025, I released the second edition of Dashiki, and in 2027 I'll be releasing the 25th anniversary edition of Perry Robinson: The Traveler. For many years I wrote CD reviews for All About Jazz, The New York City Jazz Record, and Squid's Ear, although nowadays I am focused on writing fiction.
