Fabio Bottazzo

About Me

Fabio Bottazzo is a jazz guitarist and composer whose music resides between post-bop, acoustic, and modern jazz. His playing is noted for its delicate touch and attention to space, showcasing his distinctive phrasing. Fabio Bottazzo was born in Padua, Italy, in 1971. He picked up the guitar at the age of 16, quickly being influenced by the rock of the 1980s. From 1993 to 1996, he studied jazz guitar and harmony with Italo De Angelis. In 1996, he attended the Berklee College of Music's summer school at Umbria Jazz. 2002 he obtained a diploma from the “UM” Music School in Rome. He attended seminars with artists like Pat Metheny, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Scott Henderson, Michael Manring, and studied with Charlie Banacos. He has been residing in Japan since 2004. He has performed with musicians like Bruno Marcozzi, Amanda Tiffin, Sebastiaan Kaptein, Yasuhito Mori, Yoichi Okabe, and Ove Ingemarsson. In 2010, he released “It's no Coincidence,” primarily featuring his original compositions, with Yasuhito Mori and Sebastiaan Kaptein. This album was ranked 14th in “My Best Jazz Album 2010” by the Japanese magazine “Jazz Hihyo”. In 2014, he participated in the album “Welcoming the Day” by the international jazz unit “a.s.k.”, featuring artists from South Africa, the Netherlands, and Japan. In 2018, he released the album “Sharp Eleven” with Quartet “#11”. His guitar duo album “What We Like” with JOSEN, released in 2021, marked his fourth CD since coming to Japan.
