Eyolf Dale
Norwegian pianist and composer, known from the award-winning Albatrosh duet and his solo project.
About Me
Eyolf Dale was born in Skien, Norway 5th of March 1985. He began
playing the
piano at the age of 6, and then with regular lessons from he was 7.
Writing music
has been an important element throughout the entire childhood to this
day.
During High School he studied with Roger Jeffs, Espen Gundersen and
Anders
Aarum. After High School he worked as a freelance musician before he
2005
began his canditate studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music in
2005. In 2011
he´s graduating from the master program in jazz/improvisation at the
academy.
During his time in Oslo he has been a part of loads of band projects with
the young
generation of jazz musicians from Norway, as well as Europe. He´s
probably best
known for his collaboration with saxophonist André Roligheten in the
duet
Albatrosh, which has toured all over Norway, with a growing number of
concerts
outside the country.
Dale is also an active composer, and besides writing for his own
ensembles, he
has written music for big bands, symphony orchestras, string quartets,
choirs,
vocal groups and so forth.
Dale has participated in several albums, both as a sideman and with his
own
bands.
