Eugenia Choe

A Korean-American Jazz pianist and composer, Eugenia Choe is one of the most respected musicians of her generation.

About Me

Having graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the prestigious New School for Jazz in New York City, Eugenia has developed her unique style of composition and improvisation.

Before she moved to New York, Eugenia majored in mathematics and classical piano performance at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and worked with William Heiles, a renowned pianist with special emphasis on Bach, Chopin, and Schumann. In New York, Eugenia studied with legendary jazz musicians such as Reggie Workman, Sam Yahel, Chico Hamilton, Charles Tolliver, Kevin Hays and John Abercrombie. Eugenia has been performing with many others in her field, working as an accompanist and a sideman in jazz venues in New York. Also a promising young composer, Eugenia has received accolades, making her one of New York’s pianists to watch. Eugenia Choe is undoubtedly on her way to becoming a household name in New York.

Eugenia recently recorded her debut trio album with bassist Danny Weller and drummer Alex Wyatt. Eugenia’s first album, Magic Light, will deliver deep sound and band interplay, featured within her original compositions and collaborative arrangements. The album will be released on SteepleChase Records, April 2016.
