My Jazz Story

I love jazz because... I was first exposed to jazz...when I was a teenager; I played Ten Years After's "Woman Trouble" for a friend of mine, and he took his older brother's Jimmy Smith album "The Sermon", and played me "The Sermon." This was around 1969. We have been best jazz buddies ever since. And I still love listening to "The Sermon." I met [musician name]...many musicians over the years - owned my own jazz club 1980-1985 in Berkeley, CA - live jazz 7 nights a week. Also when I lived in Japan I used to hang out at a club in Roppongi called "Club Misty."All the greats would end up there, sitting in after their gig at the Budokan. I was friends with the house pianist Tsuyoshi Yamamoto, and met many of the greats as they passed through. The best show I ever attended was... The first jazz record I bought was... My advice to new listeners... Or whatever else you have in mind.
