Erik Verwey

Pianist from Amsterdam, the Netherlands

About Me

Erik Verwey Trio is a dynamic jazz piano trio from Amsterdam, consisting of Erik Verwey - piano/compositions, Daniel van Dalen - drums and Hendrik Müller - double bass. Last year their debut album People Flow was released and received with rave international reviews. After graduating from the conservatories of Utrecht and The Hague, pianist Erik Verwey worked for many years as a (film) composer and accompanist for various successful theater and cabaret concerts in the Netherlands. These theatre tours have given him the necessary composing experience. Drummer Daniel van Dalen, known from Fuse (house band TV program Podium Witteman) has been indispensable to this trio for over 12 years. In recent years, double bass player Hendrik Mūller (known from the Daahoud Salim Quartet, among others) has effortlessly joined in, thus creating the trio. In 2019, the trio played at the Bali jazz festival, and after the release of the successful People Flow, Erik toured the Netherlands and internationally with his trio in ’21 and '22.

Lately (October 6, 2023) the Erik Verwey Trio released their second album titled “About a Home”. On this release they teamed up with renowned chromatic harmonica player Hermine Deurloo. In '23/'24 they will be touring the Netherlands.
