Emme Kemp’s calling card boldly states: “Emme Kemp is ALL Music.” This is no exaggeration - A child prodigy, born and reared in the musical melting pot of Chicago; Emme has established a reputation as a singer, composer, actress, musical researcher, and creator of her own original theatrical productions. Emme Kemp wrote additional music & lyrics for and acted with the first Broadway Company of the hit musical “Bubbling Brown Sugar.” Emme Kemp’s originals “Eyes On Harlem, “Someone to Sing To” and other songs join her Bubbling Brown Sugar medley.
Kemp was featured with the first national tour of the Broadway musical Raisin; she recorded in New York with the ragtime pianist Eubie Blake, and while living in California was coached by the eminent pianist Egon Petri.
Emme Kemp gives voice to an astonishing range of musical styles and periods - - particularly those that have been created and mastered in America and embraced by the world. Emme's poetry and writings form a significant overview on popular culture and can be specifically designed for the projected audience.
