About Me

Emme Kemp’s calling card boldly states: “Emme Kemp is ALL Music.” This is no exaggeration - A child prodigy, born and reared in the musical melting pot of Chicago; Emme has established a reputation as a singer, composer, actress, musical researcher, and creator of her own original theatrical productions. Emme Kemp wrote additional music & lyrics for and acted with the first Broadway Company of the hit musical “Bubbling Brown Sugar.” Emme Kemp’s originals “Eyes On Harlem, “Someone to Sing To” and other songs join her Bubbling Brown Sugar medley.

Kemp was featured with the first national tour of the Broadway musical Raisin; she recorded in New York with the ragtime pianist Eubie Blake, and while living in California was coached by the eminent pianist Egon Petri.

Emme Kemp gives voice to an astonishing range of musical styles and periods - - particularly those that have been created and mastered in America and embraced by the world. Emme's poetry and writings form a significant overview on popular culture and can be specifically designed for the projected audience. Her forte is interpreting a lyric; giving you the real meaning of a song, her piano improvisations paint an in-depth musical portrait.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
