Ed Guadalupe
Guitarist that plays latin, jazz, Christian Contemporary and world music.
About Me
Been playing guitar for 36 years. I play
gospel, jazz, latin, and fusion. My main
influences are Al Di Meola, George Benson,
Pat Metheny, Strunz&Farah, and Joe Pass. I
play nylon & steel-string acoustic. I also
play a Strat, a Les Paul and an Ibanez
AFC155 jazz guitar.
My Jazz Story
I love jazz because of the improvisation.
You can hear one song played a hundred
different ways.
I was first exposed to jazz through Guitar
Player magazine, December 1987 issue
showcasing Herb Ellis.
I met Frank Vignola and had a lesson with
him. He was so down to earth and such a
great teacher.
The best show I ever attended was...Danilo
Perez and Arturo Sandoval at the Blue
Note, Two legends of Latin Jazz.
The first jazz record I bought was... George
Benson's "Breezin".
My advice to new listeners...there is so
much good music out there, don't just
listen to one or two artists. Keep an open
mind and you will find jazz that you will
love.
