My Jazz Story

A real puzzle. Much is that whole psychophysical thing of colour, line, rhythm--and who knows what else--"forces" of change. Trying to feel that invisible pulse that holds it all together somehow. Right now, in a sense Le Courbusier mirrors what got me really serious about jazz also: a reaction to monotonous structures of all kinds and the deprivations instituted within their walls. "Are we really destinated to pass our existence in these immense geometrical barracks, living in standardized mass production houses? Is also our recreation all based on the same model? What will we become in the midst of all this dreadful speed, this organization, this terrible uniformity? .... so much “science”, so much of the “mechanical” everywhere present and challenging one on every page and claiming its insolent triumph on every possible occasion. Here is enough to disgust one for ever..." "...tears in the heart; movement of the legs, torso, arms and head....the music of an era of construction; innovating."
