Donald Crawford
About Me
Born in Richmond, Virginia on December 28, 1978, Donald Crawford became an avid music lover at an early age. He began his jazz piano studies in 1999 at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College with pianist Eric Lyttle.
Currently in his third year as a jazz performance major at VCU, Donald continues to play around Richmond, leading his own ensembles and performing as a sideman with various groups. He has either shared the stage or has studied with many jazz greats such as Geoffrey Keezer, Bill Mays, Howard Curtis, Bob Hallahan, Skip Gailes, and others.
Donald's musicial influences include Herbie Nichols, Andrew Hill, Thelonious Monk, Chick Corea, Wynton Kelly, Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett Wayne Shorter, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Elvin Jones, and many others.
