About Me

International singer for more than 2 decades, but has been singing most of her life, Diane is from a family of gifted artists; Shirley Witherspoon (Duke Ellington vocalist), Jimmy Witherspoon (blues legend) among others. Diane studied music in Oakland, CA and Minneapolis, MN where she was born and spent 23 years before moving to California. Recorded many cd's; among them; “You May Never Know” with pianist/composer Cedar Walton, Billy Higgins on Drums, John Heard and Tony Dumas on bass. Diane has performed and/or recorded with Teddy Edwards, Bobby McFerrin, Pharoah Saunders, Art Hillery, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson, Calvin Keys and numerous other world renown musicians. She has performed in Ghana, Japan, Thailand, Ireland, Switzerland, Dubai, Guam, Vietnam, India, Russia, France, Egypt, and South America. She has composed several songs and also conducted workshops for children and adults on a few continents.

My Jazz Story

I love jazz because as a singer, it gives me room to improvise, re-create and express the emotion I feel from a song. No "set" format to me means personal creativity and always unexpected interpretations.
