I love jazz because I love listening to music in general. I was first exposed to jazz as a child when my mom listened to many big bands. She was a big music lover, and enjoyed dancing to the songs. I met James Williams (actually attended high school with him), Kevin Mahogany, and Cyrus Chestnut. The best show I ever attended was Arturo Sandoval at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA (twice). My advice to new listeners is remember there are many types of jazz. Try them all and find what you like most.
