About Me

David Sutton is a Professor of Anthropology at Southern Illinois University.

I grew up in New York City, and went to college and graduate school in Chicago. I grew up listening to Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley, Third World, Toots and the Maytals. Third World was the first live concern I attended, and later got to see Jimmy Cliff live. I spent 3 weeks in Nigeria when I was a teenager, and I love Fela Kuti. Most of my research has been in Greece, and I love Greek music as well.
