Los Angeles-based jazz musician/composer/trumpeter/bandleader and proud U.S. Army Veteran born in Chicago Heights.

Dave plays trumpet with three bands: The Decisive Instant, NotQuiteFree, and MBT. MBT is a high-energy jazz-funk ensemble from Long Beach, CA led by trumpeter and bandleader, Dave Williams. Known for tight grooves, explosive horn lines, and a sound that blends electric-era Miles Davis with deep funk and underground beat culture, MBT has built a loyal following across Southern California. The band has performed at top regional venues including The Mint, Harvelle’s, Sky Room, Roscoe’s Jazz Lounge, The Queen Mary, Willmore Wine Bar, and Leimert Park’s Kaos Network and The World Stage. Their albums Paradigm Shift and Supernatural Selection produced fan favorites like “Sophisticated Voltron” and “Vindaloo,” while their 2022 EP “Different Standards, Too”, showcases their latest evolution. The band will soon release their highly anticipated album, “2 Mellow 4 Saturday Nite.” With over 40 years of combined musicianship, collaborations with local soul and blues artists, and a new full- length album on the way, MBT delivers a show that’s equal parts musicianship, groove, and raw live energy.
