I love jazz because..."not just jazz but all music. As Duke said" There are only two kinds of music, good & bad". I can't agree more. I was first exposed to jazz...Technically tha age of 5 and up because of the musicians on the records although they were not pure jazz records. That came a little later I met [musician name]...I have met just about all the great musicians I ever dreamed about listening to them growing up. The trick now is to play with who's left! The best show I ever attended was...Really so many. Fela in NYC,Many shows at the late Bottom Line, NYC and 7th Ave South, Mikells, Bradley's and on... The first jazz record I bought was..."Roundabout", the single was my first purchase and then "Fragile"-Yes the album at Sears. Then I got turned onto Automatic Man, AWB, Billy Cobham & George Duke band "Live In Europe". It was a much more diverse musical canvas when I was growing up. My advice to new listeners... Or whatever else you have in mind.
