About Me
Darren Heinrich is a leading Australian jazz organist with a unique style of playing that is steeped in the traditions of the Soul Jazz genre. He has 4 albums as a leader, the latest being Riddle Diddle: The Prague Sessions. “A leading global voice for the instrument” – 4 stars - Dingo Jazz Journal Australian organist Darren Heinrich showcases his mastery of the Hammond B3 on this compelling collection recorded in Prague with guitarist Libor Šmoldas and drummer Jesse Simpson. Heinrich, who holds the world’s first PhD in Jazz Organ Improvisation, brings crystal- clear articulation and dynamic sensitivity to eleven original compositions that honour and expand the organ trio tradition. The Prague Sessions, recorded after five gigs that tightened the trio’s chemistry, reveal Heinrich’s distinctive compositional voice combining elegant structures with modern flourishes.
