About Me

I'm a freelance jazz musician in the New York area (graduate of William Paterson New Jersey) and also a freelance writer in the New York/New Jersey area.

My love for jazz started with John Coltrane's “Blue Train” in middle school and has exploded into all sub-genres, sounds, and time periods of jazz, from Jack Teagarden to Kneebody. The jazz I have reviewed is mostly in the modern “creative music” vein, but I have a love and enthusiasm for all musics under (and outside) the jazz umbrella.

I've began writing for AllAboutJazz in the summer of 2010 and since then have covered single-act performances, festivals, CD reviews and have also conducted several interviews. I've also covered acts like Kneebody for Feast of Music. The artists I've covered/reviewed/interviewed include:

Roy Haynes, The Undead Music Festival, Winter Jazzfest, Alan Ferber Nonet, Either/Orchestra, Billy Test, Less Magnetic, Susana Santos-Silva, Erica Seguine/Shannon Baker Orchestra, Jen Shyu, Chris Combs (of Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey),Theo Bleckmann, Amir El-Saffar and Shane Endsley.
