My Jazz Story
I love jazz because... I was born into it (and
long before it was so academic! I grew into it
organically, with folks like John Coltrane and
Eric Dolphy coming to my house! After all,
my father is a true jazz legend. How could I
deny my own heritage?
My House Concert Story
One story I’d like to share is of a gig I did in the Netherlands around 2013. After the gig I was walking through the venue parking lot to the van and a young couple caught up to me and said hello and that they enjoyed the concert and they had recently gotten married and that they especially liked my drumming because it made them “better people”. I think it’s the best compliment I’ll ever get.
