About Me

One doesn't choose to be a writer. It chooses you.

Ever since I was old enough to scribble on the walls with a crayon, I've been attracted to the written word. While other kids were playing ball, I was diligently reading every book that I could absorb . . . including the majority of the World Book Encyclopedia. By the time I was eleven, I'd authored several volumes of poetry and re-written Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as a play. Impressed by my efforts or worried that I was totally insane, I was relieved of some of my studies and allowed to direct. Due to artistic differences among sixth graders, the play never made it to fruition. However, writing and convincing other people of my ideas are passions that consume me to this day.

I never intended to specifically be known a jazz writer. It all started as an innocent little way to enhance my CD collection and attend a few concerts. That was before I found the glories of a press pass. Many reviews and interviews later, jazz is now a serious addiction for which I've been told there is no cure.

My family has given up any hope of a normal life. At any given time, my house is littered with an assortment of artist biographies and leftover coffee cups. Rather than fight it, they've just learned to live around the mess. Music now fills our home and we like it that way.

You should be careful about what you ask of the universe. Jazz can take you to all sorts of places. I'm a freelance publicist, entertainment writer and regular contributor to newsprint, trades and internet jazz publications. You can find my work in a variety of outlets.
