My Jazz Story
I love jazz because after being into r&b and funk for over two
decades, I looked around, saw that I(and all of my
peers+generation)was getting older. My tastes and inclination, as a
result, was for something also, that would continue to stimulate my
interests as a human being as well as a musician, having been in NYC
f/about 10 years(the jazz capital of the whole planet earth). Well,
something in me, being at that time, about 40 years of age, clicked,
so to speak, and I saw the need to 'move on'(mind you, if the funk
were still in vogue, I would still be happy playing the funk, but,
life is change and so at 40 years of age I decided to learn and play
jazz. It was a decision, I am happy to say I have not regretted(it's
been rough, but I'm still with jazz, trying to remain ever evolving
and growing with it.
