Cesar Machado
Cesar is a renowned drummer, percussionist, composer, and arranger with over 50 years of experience, endorsed by Vic Firth and Odery Drums, celebrated for his captivating albums and international performances.
About Me
Cesar began his musical journey at the age of 12, studying percussion at the Conservatory of Music of Niterói and later
at the Villa-Lobos School of Music under the guidance of the esteemed drummer Edgard Rocca. He further enriched his
musical expertise by completing courses in arranging and harmony from the Berklee School of Music in Boston, USA,
via correspondence.
A versatile artist, Cesar has released five acclaimed solo albums: “Litoral,” “Momentos,” “Viagem,” “Natureza,” and the
upcoming “Made for Us,” which is set to be launched later this year. These albums have been celebrated both in Brazil
and internationally, showcasing his profound connection to music and his unique talent for transforming emotions into
captivating melodies.
Cesar’s extensive career includes performing across Brazil and internationally, with notable appearances in the USA,
Germany, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Finland, and Spain. He has collaborated with over 70 renowned artists,
such as Nana Caymmi, Ithamara Koorax, Baby Consuelo, Martinho da Vila, Maria Bethânia, Maria Creuza, David
Friedman, Jurgen Friedrich, Paquito de Rivera, and Raul de Souza. Additionally, he recorded a highly regarded CD Book
with Antonio Adolfo, which was released in Europe and the USA.
Dedicated to music education, Cesar has conducted workshops at prestigious institutions like the University of Music in
Berlin and in Seoul, South Korea. He has also performed with the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, demonstrating his
technical prowess and musical sensitivity.
With more than 20 years of teaching experience, Cesar has been a mentor in various projects, including the “Acordes
da Vila” by the Grupo Pão de Açúcar, where he has inspired 240 students aged 10 to 22. He continues to educate
young musicians at the ARTiPURA music school in Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, guiding both beginners and professional
students.
Cesar’s dedication and excellence in drumming have earned him endorsements from Vic Firth, a leading manufacturer
of drumsticks, and Odery Drums, a renowned Brazilian drum company. These partnerships are a testament to his
influence and stature in the world of percussion.
Currently, Cesar is pioneering the “Toque Brasileiro” project, which includes a DVD and CD of over 400 Brazilian
rhythmic patterns and samples. This cultural and educational initiative is a valuable resource for music teachers,
university students, musicologists, and musicians, dedicated to the study and research of Brazilian rhythms and
percussion.
