My Jazz Story
Flutist Carolyn Steinberg earned her doctoral degree in music composition from The Juilliard School and has written and/or arranged over 100 works of vocal and
instrumental music. She plays Latin Jazz flute with co-leader Chacho Ramirez in the quintet, La Banda Ramirez; together they have built a unique book of music. She
has produced 6 albums: her chamber music “Songs, Dances, Duos,” the band Metrotang in “Lights Out,” and her Latin Jazz quintet “A Family Ting” in 2019, “Cuban
Butterflies” (2021) and “Lizzie’s Lounge” (2023), and "I Remember Bill," (2024) Chacho Ramirez's memorial album to Bill Jacobs. "Lizzie's Lounge" was produced
with support of a Performance Plus grant from Chamber Music America (2023). La Banda Ramirez performed twice monthly for 7 years at Paris Blues Harlem, and 3
nights weekly for 3 months (trio format) at Victor’s Café in Manhattan. www.carolynsteinberg.com and www.metrotang.com
