My Jazz Story

I love Jazz because of my Band Director and teacher Jimmy Hamilton who played with Duke Ellington, Curtis Mayfield and Ray Charles who helped me with a 2 week summer Jazz camp to Study under Trumpeter Dominic Speara at Shell Lake Wisconsin music Jazz camp in 1975 studied and played in University of Wisconsin Eau Claire who sponsored me at the age 16 playing drums in college band. Jimmy Hamilton helped to foster my Jazz music career. I later worked with Songstress Shirley Witherspoon who sang with Duke Ellington. I met musician Clark Terry and stayed with Micheal B. Royal In 1973 in Minneapolis Minnesota where he took me to his gigs where I hung out with his band Deep water who played at the IDS building.

My House Concert Story

We Hosted numerous Jazz concerts with Shirley Witherspoon and Captain Jack McDuff in Minneapolis Minnesota. The Band Shirley Witherspoon Groove Merchants Trio , John Thomas Page keyboards Sonny Faison Bass, and Carlos A. Boyce Jr.on Drums The last concert was with The Shirley Witherspoon Band and The Late great Joe Pass on guitar at Cafe Del Arte formally (Cricket Theater ).
