About Me
Pianist, Composer and Educator
Camila Cortina Bello is a Cuban-born pianist, composer, and educator whose music unites Afro-Cuban rhythms, jazz language, and classical textures into a sound both grounded and exploratory. A Yamaha Artist and Chamber Music America New Jazz Works Grantee (2025), she approaches composition as storytelling, transforming heritage, rhythm, and emotion into modern narratives. A 2023 New Music USA Next Jazz Legacy Fellow, Camila has performed alongside Paquito D’Rivera, Dianne Reeves, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Miguel Zenón, appearing at major festivals including DC Jazz, Cape May, and Ecuador Jazz. Her piano work Bravura premiered at London’s Barbican Centre (2024), and she appeared on NPR’s Tiny Desk with OKAN. In New York, she is also a sought-after side musician, performing with Kalí Rodríguez-Peña and Rachel Therrien, and collaborating as a pianist with dance companies such as Sekou McMiller and Friends and Music from the Sole.
