I love jazz because... to me it is a very vital music that makes me feel alive! I love HARD BOP that drives and is on fire!! I love West Coast and Big Band (Dance and Concert).. I love New Bop, Old Bop, Cool Bop, Hip Bop, Be Bop, Doo Bop (Electric Miles is REAL!) and everything in between. I was first exposed to jazz... through the school music program. If you want to PLAY, it was going to be JAZZ!!! The first jazz recording I owned was a Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich Drum Battle cassette. Very musical! My advice to new listeners would be to be open to experiencing the classics and develop an ear for avant garde, experimental and all music which stems from or is directly related to the blues and jazz.
