My Jazz Story
I was a music Major in high school. 1973-1976. The high school I went to was Dunbar Vocational High School in Chicago, Illinois, graduating in 1976 from high school. Our program had music as a major or a vocation that we traded learn to fulfill our dreams in Destiny. It was exciting to learn how to play saxophone in my earlier years and then switch to singing and speaking. Looking forward to getting to know other smooth jazz enthusiasm and have, believe it or not, personally started paying attention to Pete Belasco the last two weeks from October 15th, 2021, through November 22nd, 2021. As I listened, I thought I was listening to Sade, but a male version of her sound then Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye came to mind, and I thought this sounded like the music of the seventies when I was in high school, it made so much sense. It is a different, distinct sound from this generation of T-Pain vocal renditions. I am so glad Pete stuck to his convictions, patterns, and sounds because it's what this world needs right now in this generation to slow down and sit down and relax.
