Ben Redwine

American clarinetist, both classical and jazz.

About Me

An accomplished musician devoted to new classical music and old jazz, Ben Redwine is the e-flat clarinet soloist with the US Naval Academy Band in Annapolis, Maryland. He is a teaching fellow at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC and was appointed adjunct professor of clarinet and saxophone at Anne Arundel Community College in 2012. He has been a featured soloist at six International Clarinet Association ClarFests in the U.S. and Europe, and is in demand as a freelance musician, performing with many classical and jazz orchestras in the Washington, DC region. In addition to leading his popular traditional-style jazz band, the RedwineJazz Band, Ben is a Buffet Group USA performing artist, and a Canyes Xilema reed performing artist. He has recorded for Mapleshade, Naxos, Big Kahuna, and AmCam record labels, and composed and performed new music to 1920s era silent films featuring actors Charley Chase and Harry Langdon, released on DVD box sets by All Day Entertainment. Ben earned a bachelor of music education degree from the University of Oklahoma and a master of music degree from Louisiana State University; he is currently a doctoral candidate at The Catholic University of America, studying clarinet performance with a minor in Latin American music history. He has studied with Loris Wiles, David Etheridge, Steve Girko, Steve Cohen, Ignatius Gennusa, Ben Armato and Paul Cigan. Founder of the company RJ Music Group, Ben manufactures quality products for discriminating clarinetists, including Gennusa mouthpieces, the Reed Wizard, and other products and books by Ben Armato.
