Augusto Monk blends the realm of jazz improvisation and composition from a multi-instrumental place.
About Me
Originally from Argentina, Augusto Monk studied jazz and composition at Berklee College of Music, Boston. He then gained his Master’s Degree in Composition for Films at the London College of Music and Media in the UK. In 2009, Augusto moved to Toronto and has been pursuing his PhD in Music Education at the University of Toronto focusing on the pedagogy of music improvisation. He currently writes the column of improvisation for the Canadian Music Educator’s Journal and teaches undergraduate tutorials on creative music making at U of T. Since his moving to Toronto, Augusto has performed mainly as a band leader amongst other venues at the Trane Studio, the Glenn Gould Studio, the Winchester Theatre, the Annex Live and has been featured in several radio shows at CIUT FM.
