Anthony Passante-Contaldi

Anthony embodies the spirit of Philadelphia, the city that Gritty calls home.

About Me

Philly’s powerhouse music scene is the source of inspiration for Tony, a South Philly native, who’s love of Philadelphia is the center of his compositions and music projects. Along with an impressive classical background (his first love), years of jazz instruction as a parallel pursuit, comes his deep dive into the rap hip hop scene through venues such as Newports and News and Rec Philly. His ongoing collaboration with talented rap/hip hop artists is gaining recognition. From an early age, while touring Europe with School of Rock, the All City Orchestra, his involvement with musical genres throughout the city increased over time to include gospel, jazz, classical while expanding his reach to many musicians and venues. Tony recently completed the music program at Boyer School of music at temple university as a classical performance major in percussion, and emphasis in composition, piano and jazz. “I’m Philly born and bred. I love this city. Its vibration runs through me and flows into the heart of the music I create.”

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
