I love jazz because it gives me lots of freedom (as far as rhythm, phrasing, melody line and choice of sound is concerned). I was first exposed to jazz accidentally, when I heard Ella Fitzgerald singing. I think it was Jersey Bounce, and since then I was hooked. The first jazz record I ever bought was "Clap Hands Here Comes Charlie" by Ella, and my favourite jazz records are Michael Brecker's "Tales From The Hudson" and Dave Holland's "World Trio".

I attended and hosted many house concerts in small venues and a few quite large living rooms (in the Netherlands it's quite popular). I like the intimate atmosphere, the fact that the audience consists of people legitimately interested in the performer, and usually knows the music that is played (including originals).
