My Jazz Story

I love jazz because...my father Emmett O'Neill...used to play Buddy Rich and Camen Mcrae and Stan Kenton...my whole childhood while he corrected history tests...he taught history for 43 years at Santa Rosa High school...My mom was a singer and beautiful piano player. I was first exposed to jazz...as a kid...my elementary music school teacher was a jazz alto player..(I played the oboe, flute and sax...all through high school and college).and so he always had a jazz band at school and my Mom and Dad were both musicians. I met [musician name]... The best show I ever attended was...The Manhattan Transfer at Golden Gate Theater in San Francisco...it blew my mind The first jazz record I bought was...Stan Kenton

My House Concert Story

We hosted a Jazzy Christmas...this last December 14th at the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Hall...in Burbank? And it was completely sold out and a REALLY super fun evening. It is such a treat and a gift ..that interaction between audience and musician...and Christmas makes it even better:) ..in addition we bring patrons to the VFW Hall...buying their delish 8 dollar martinis...which helps the VFW and all that they do for our men and women on the front lines...and more importantly..when they return...they have a safe haven at the VFW.

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
