My Jazz Story

I love jazz because...my father Emmett O'Neill and my Mom Cara.....used to play Buddy Rich and Carmen Mcrae and Stan Kenton...my whole childhood while he corrected history tests...he taught history for 43 years at Santa Rosa High school...My mom was a singer and beautiful piano player. I was first exposed to jazz...as a kid...my elementary music school teache< Dick Shuster was a jazz alto player..(I played the oboe, flute and sax...all through high school and college).and so he always had a jazz band at school and my Mom and Dad were both musicians. I met [musician name]... The best show I ever attended was...The Manhattan Transfer at Golden Gate Theater in San Francisco...it blew my mind The first jazz record I bought was...Stan Kenton

My House Concert Story

The Outrageous8 and I have played MANY free and open to the public concerts...As soon as Covid restrictions allowed? We cordoned off a street in Monrovia and played in the Cul De Sac parking spot of Al Timss...The Duke of Smooths home! We are so honored to play at great venues like Catalina Jazz Club, Campus Jax in Newport and Feinsteins at Vitellos as well as The Barkley and The Pour House in Monrovia..so grateful to be a part of the very hip and wonderful Jazzy Big Band Scene in beautiful Los Angeles xoxo
