Jazz Musician, Educator and Bandleader
Born in Nottingham in 1991, Andrew is a jazz musician and has played drums professionally since 2008 and is currently based in the East Midlands, currently studying Jazz at the prestigious Leeds College of Music under the tutelage of Dave Walsh and Peter Fairclough. Andrew plays in numerous ensembles including his own trio, with Colin Dudman (Barbara Thompson’s “Paraphernalia”) on Piano and Dominic Holmes on Double Bass. This trio in various forms has existed since 2008 and has recently recorded an E.P. for free public release and promotion, available for download on SoundCloud. Another prominent project is 'fluff', featuring Ben Martin and Martin Spencer. Contemporary saxophone trio pushing the boundaries of acceptability. To date in his career, Andrew has supported and played with some of the UK’s most prominent jazz artists, including Dave O’ Higgins, Abram Wilson, Tom Cawley, Gareth Williams, Simon Bates and Dave Swift. Recently, Andrew appeared with top US trumpet star Allen Vizzutti on his only UK date of 2011. Andrew has extensive performance experience in all jazz and commercial settings, ranging from Contemporary Jazz Trio to Orchestral Percussion, with all other styles and genres covered. In 2010, Andrew’s trio won the Trinity Guildhall Open Jazz Award in the National Festival of Music for Youth. Andrew is also a well established educator, teaching from the Nottingham Drum and Guitar Centre studios, near the Nottingham Capital FM arena.
