About Me
My Jazz Story
I was first exposed to jazz...as a child by my parents, via the West Side Story movie soundtrack, and all of the Jazz that was still part of the popular music on TV and radio. In 7th grade I saw an ad on TV on KTVU for KJAZ radio station 92.7 FM. That became my portal into and education on Jazz. I started playing Clarinet in 7th grade and switched to Tenor Saxophone in the 8th grade. This is when I started playing in the Jazz Band. I owe a lot to my teachers Chuck Lord and John Maltester, but especially KJAZ, KPFA and now KCSM radio stations for my Jazz education.
Jazz has allowed me to play in many countries and now I have had the opportunity to mentor others and especially my children and grandchildren.
