About Me
New York born, jazz/pop vocalist, Amber Chiang, received her musical training at the University
of Massachusetts. Her jazz styling influences are a combination of Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn
and Betty Carter as well as from Brazilian and pop artists. She has appeared around the world
as a soloist singing jazz and pop, including at the Blue Note, NYC; and was the featured soloist
at the 2000 Southern California Summer Special Olympics.
She received “Honorable Mention” for two of her original songs from the Billboard World Song
Contest; and produced a CD of 13 original songs.
Inspired by her love of music, she has been teaching piano and voice for over 25 years.
Being of Chinese descent, her passion for art took the form of Chinese brush painting. There
are quite a few artists in the family. She has always had an affinity towards the arts, music and
painting, and started studying art at an early age. She especially loves the water color medium.
All of her paintings are painted on either rice paper or silk in the traditional manner using
Chinese brushes and watercolor, and mounted and framed professionally.
