I love jazz because...because it is high art. I was first exposed to jazz... I met [Ella Fitzgerald]...in San Francisco at the Fairmont Hotel. I was a vocalist with the Coasters at the time and we were doing a big corporate private gig. Lou Rauls was on that gig also. It was a dream come true for me because I was a serious fan of hers. The best show I ever attended was... The first jazz record I bought was...A Love Supreme by John Coltrane My advice to new listeners...Listen to everything. Or whatever else you have in mind.
