Alexandra Lehmler

Young female saxophone player from germany

About Me

No time for rotating empty phrases: it goes straight forward in the third album of the Mannheim saxophonist Alexandra Lehmler. Her music has all attributes which one ascribes with pleasure to the “male” jazz: Sovereign in its presentation, complex, but not complicated. With clear perceptible roots and own expression. Briefly, from the belly coming, grown music which still marks thought thru considerations. The title of the album, “No Blah Blah” (published on Thomas Siffling's label “JAZZ'n'ARTS” and promoted from the „initiative of music“), is the theme. The compositions are substantial and exciting; the whole draught of this CD is attractive. She has intensely studied the old masters of jazz; an influence of different jazz epochs appears over and over again in her play, inward-looking melody lines and lyrical subjects Lehmler’s „vibrating tones on the saxophone, mainly blown in the bright scale, the smooth lines and the song-like melody guidance“ are put by Klaus Mümpfer in the jazz platform in words, as ”unmistakable”.
