Album Description

Simon Spang-Hanssen "Song Book" w. Mai Lan Doky started out in 2022 with a first album "Green or Purple. The leader has written songs since 2016, this i the fourth album. Many inspirations, including those of Stevie Wonder, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Neville Brothers... The lyrics often center around the survival of the planet, the need to live together, love, friendship with a couple more surreal excursions...Vocalist Mai Lan Doky and pianist Ken Linh Doky (1990) have grown up in Paris surrounded by jazz, caribbean music and R&B, they both combine a large stylistic spectre. Bassist Anders Fjeldsted (1991), plays both acoustic and electric basses, with a different approach, and is very present on the Danish and European scene. David Besiakov (1989) performs with a variety of groups and styles, and co-leads tributes to Andrew Hill and Fela Kuti.
