A virtuosic pianist possessed of phenomenal technique, Roger Kellaway's formidable jazz talents were long ob-scured by his commercial work, including a stint as Bobby Darin's musical director and countless studio dates (that's Kellaway at the keys on theme of television's All in the Family"). Not until the mid-Eighties did he begin playing jazz nearly full-time, recording a series of acclaimed albums for such labels as Concord, Chiaroscuro and IPO Records. In 2005, Roger released his second Darin tribute disc, the solo-piano I Was There. In The Washington Post, Terry Teachout called Roger Kellaway the quintessential musician's musician." Blue Note recording artist Stefon Harris--whose new album African Tarantella is due in Fall 2006--will join the Kellaway trio on vibraphone for this special Jazz Standard engagement.
