Bill Charlap Celebrates the American Songbook (July 2, Cooperstown NY)

The Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival presents Bill Charlap on July 2, 2006 at The Farmers' Museum Louis C. Jones Center, on Lake Road in Cooperstown, NY. Grammy-nominated jazz pianist Charlap will perform works by Porter, Berlin, Gershwin and more.

Charlap's albums include: Bill Charlap Plays George Gershwin: The American Soul; Somewhere: The Songs of Leonard Bernstein; Love is Here to Stay; and Stardust.

Festival Artistic Director Linda Chesis celebrates a broad definition of chamber music, and has featured the Hank Jones Trio, Stefon Harris Quintet, John Musto and Amy Burton, along with the Tokyo String Quartet, the St. Lawrence String Quartet, Timothy Fain and Trio Solisti. Ms. Chesis, a flutist who is chair of the woodwind department at the Manhattan School of Music, founded the Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival in 1999.



Cooperstown, NY, home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Glimmerglass Opera and The Farmers' Museum/Fenimore Art Museum, is located in central New York State, 70 miles west of Albany and 30 miles south of the New York State Thruway (I-90) Exit 30. Detailed directions on Festival web site.
