JESSICA JONES QUARTET + FRIENDS The Jessica Jones Quartet is a four-person improvising ensemble which performs original experimental music. Their music derives from the jazz tradition of Charles Mingus, the Art Ensemble of Chicago, and Ornette Coleman, using structured original compositions as a framework for freer improvisation. Combining two tenor saxophones with bass and drums, the group strives for a unique experimental sound while paying tribute to its traditional roots. The band has played clubs and festivals on the West coast and in New York City. They are currently working on a CD for New Artists Records, a much-anticipated studio recording to follow up on their live release Family, on the Nine Winds label. 8:30PM www.jessicajonesmusic.com
