Album Description

This new project by the Ramón Díaz Group is inspired by the music of the Polish composer Chopin, considered one of the most important in the history of music and one of the greatest representatives of musical romanticism. Based on melodies such as the preludes, waltzes, ballads and nocturnes, Ramón Diaz Group gives an interpretation adapted to current times and passed through the filter given by their experience and long professional history. The fact that the group does not use a piano (the composer's main instrument) gives a very peculiar sound and a highly personal character to the final result. The Ramón Díaz Group has been performing for more than 20 years and has six CDs to its name, four of them with the prestigious Fresh Sound record label. The first three (”Pues sí“, “O si no, Que?" and “ Sketches“) were recorded as a quartet, with two saxophones, double bass and drums. These are followed by two quintet albums, and a last one in trio format. The fourth CD "Diàleg" was very well received by national and international critics (Village Voice, Jazz Special, Jazz Hot, Jazz Magazine, Tomajazz, Apolo y Baco), and received the award for Best Record of 2006 and Best Group of 2006 by the Association of Jazz Musicians and Modern Music of Catalonia. Later they recorded their fifth album "Unblocking" which was released at the beginning of 2008 and also received good national and international reviews (All About Jazz) followed by a sixth album as a trio "Bumpy Road" with which they were selected by the SGAE for "JazzEñe 2017".
