New Album People, People, Music, Music out April 25th

Santa Monica, CA: The Savoy Label Group, home to legendary jazz recording label, has created a new dance-oriented label, Savoy Jazz Worldwide, and is proud to announce the release “People, People, Music, Music", the new album from Groove Collecitve. Groove Collective's all-new recording re-establishes their rep in the US as incomparable masters of multi-hued funk. Produced by Groove Collective and Hiroyuki Sanada, People, People, Music, Music will be released April 25.

For more than a decade, Groove Collective has been transcending categories with one goal in mind: to move listeners' minds and feet. This crew of New York City-based Jazz-Funk-Afrocuban-Electronic stylistic adventurers have been laying down grooves that buzz and always have the crowd on its feet and dancing. Jam? These guys helped shape the modern definition. It is appropriate that they are newly signed to the Savoy Jazz Worldwide imprint as People, People, Music, Music takes the listener on a musical journey around the globe beginning with the Afro-pop sound of “Forgotten Travelers,"and continues into the Cuban jam “Tito" (a tribute to the legendary Mr. Puente) and onwards to the smoky NYC jazz lounge vibe of Herbie Hancock's “Speak Like A Child" and the club beats of “What If" and “Set Up."

Groove Collective are: Jonathan Maron (bass), Barney McAll (Fender Rhodes, synthesizers, piano), Fabio Morgera (trumpet, flugelhorn, effects), Jay Rodriquez (saxophones, flutes, bass clarinet), Genji Siraisi (drums, programming, vocals) and Chris “Ifatoye" Theberge (congas, bata drums, percussion). Special guests on the album include producer DJ Spinna, funk legend Fred Wesley, vocalists Eddie Bob and DeLouie Avant, Jr., percussionist Tony Rodriguez, trombonist Reut Regev, guitarist Liberty Ellman and keyboardist Victor Axelrod.

Says Joshua Sherman, Sr. Director of A&R and Marketing for the Savoy Label Group: “When the opportunity arose to sign Groove Collective to Savoy Jazz, we jumped at the chance. This group has been creating incredibly powerful music for many years, and they've made one of their most exciting projects yet with People, People, Music, Music. There is no band better to launch a groove and electronica oriented label with than Groove Collective, who basically defined the genre."

Savoy JazzWorldwide is a unit of the Savoy Label Group (SLG). SLG is the North American unit of Columbia Music Entertainment (formerly Nippon Columbia), the oldest music company in Japan. Newly reorganized and now headed by Chairman Strauss Zelnick, Columbi Music Entertainment has re-emerged as a significant creative force with a stable of newly-signed platinum-selling artists.
