B.J. Jansen is selected to represent “Philadelphia Jazz” to the World
B.J. will be performing as a showcased artist for the 2005 Mid Point Music Festival. An independent judging committee made up of industry leaders and professionals from around the United States selected him from a worldwide talent pool. This year’s festival will include more than 300 artists of all genres from the US and abroad with an anticipated showcase attendance of 50,000+.
Jazz Is Not Dead
B.J. has been active in the local scene since moving to the Philadelphia area little more than a year ago. His group, Conjura, began with a strong debut performance this past June at Philadelphia’s own Ortlieb’s JazzHaus. B.J Jansen and Conjura are currently recording and can be seen live locally at other area Philadelphia jazz rooms. A composition of B.J.’s, “Mom’s Dilemma”, recorded by Conjura also recently received the number one play list spot on a globally streaming Internet radio station, Radio Free Jaazzzz.
B.J. states:
“ I always try to educate and inform people that Jazz is not dead and that we [musicians] are out here performing this music [jazz] all over the world!”
“I truly feel that these [Independent] Festivals, when combined with the Internet, will help jazz music regain portions of the music industry market-share.”
