Hi everybody --

Just back from summer vacation (with some work thrown in) in the Hamptons and Martha's Vineyard, and looking forward to three evenings of summer fun at Danny's, beginning next week. With celebrated bassist Sean Smith, I'll be performing three consecutive Tuesday evenings -- August 2, 9, and 16, at 9:15pm. We'll play tunes from the new CD, NO ONE KNOWS, which was released in May and has received enthusiastic reviews (see below), as well as new things that I'm excited about, such as new arrangements of “Tonight", “Pennies From Heaven", and a medley of two of my favorite Sinatra tunes, “I Fall in Love Too Easily" and “I Could Have Told You". A couple of Arlen songs would seem to be inevitable, in this centennial year, and my wife Barbara Fasano, one of Arlen's best interpreters (surely you've seen her Arlen show?), may stop by to sing 'em.

We ALL hope to see you for a summer night of jazz and song.

All best regards --

eric comstock

PRAISE FOR ERIC COMSTOCK CD NO ONE KNOWS

“(Comstock's) jazz smarts are as finely tuned as his showman instincts. Vocally, Comstock's a bit of a chameleon, variously evoking Chet Baker, Mel Torme and Mark Murphy. Stylistically, though, he's most akin to the late, great Matt Dennis, who recorded a terrific series of mid-╢50s albums that were like the musical equivalent of a mink-lined Corvette Stingray. Like Dennis, Comstock has a voice that flows as smoothly as rye and sweet vermouth over ice ... as Comstock suggests on the disc's fifth track, jump for joy!" -- Christopher Loudon, JazzTimes, July/August 2005 “Comstock has a sensational new CD of gorgeous and underexposed masterpieces called NO ONE KNOWS" All in all, he's a busy little wunderkind" Eric Comstock is keeping a cherished tradition alive for a new generation." -- Rex Reed, The New York Observer

“assured...one of the most engaging new vocalists on the scene...cool sophistication...unpretentious, straightforward vocal style...a breakout effort." --Dan McClenaghan, AllAboutJazz.com, 28 April 2005

“NO ONE KNOWS is the singer-pianist's third and most jazz-assured album... There's not a disappointing track on this album, and when the last track, 'I Hear Music', ends, you want to hear it all again." --George Kanzler, Hot House, March 2005

“NO ONE KNOWS [is] a remarkably refreshing album that announces something rare: the presence in the genre of a young male singer who's worth taking seriously...Either doing lost-love songs or lost-in-love songs, Comstock is excellent. Superb musicians (Wycliffe Gordon and the revered Frank Wess) offer rich support." --Robert Cushman, National Post (Canada), February 2005

“As expected, the repertoire is choice and the renditions earnest, but the surprise is in the tasty jazzers backing the proceedings. Comstock has amazing taste....Here he expands his reach and hits the mark beautifully." --George Evans, Planet Jazz, Winter/Spring 2005

“Comstock's effortless style...is instantly affecting and irresistably inviting.... Comstock's 16-song offering is pure gold from first note to last....'Small World' is an absolutely perfect moment in Comstock's understated and unprotracted delivery every moment of this album is flawless, and it will be hard to top as the year's best." --Jeff Rossen, Cabaret Scenes/Gay Chicago, April 2005
