Grady Tate & Lizz Wright Round Out Singers Over Manhattan Series March 27-29

Jazz at Lincoln Center (J@LC) will present two superb jazz vocalists the venerable GRADY TATE and the rising star LIZZ WRIGHT for its final installment of the Singers Over Manhattan concerts in the 2002-03 season, taking place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 27, 28 and 29, 2003 at 8pm in the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse.

While Mr. Tate has made a name for himself as a first-call drummer since the 1960s, working with artists like Jimmy Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughan, Stan Getz, Tony Bennett and others, he has also established himself as a successful jazz vocalist. The drummer-vocalist has released three vocal albums and garnered two Grammy nominations for “Best Male Pop Vocalist" in 1973 and 1989 for his efforts. The pairing of this jazz veteran with the young and talented Ms. Wright, who recently celebrated her 23rd birthday, should provide an enchanting evening of music. Her debut record on the Verve Music label is not due out until May of this year, but Ms. Wright is already impressing audiences from Atlanta to New York.
