Carnegie Hall has announced a new three-concert jazz series in Zankel Hall for its 2008-2009 season. Entitled Just Jazz: The Joyce Wein Series.
The Just Jazz series features performances by artists like Michel Camilo Trio and Andr Previn Jazz Trio, along with a special concert by George Wein and an all-star ensemble of friends in a program dedicated to Wein's late wife, Joyce, called To Joyce with Love.
“The Jazz of Ellington, Basie, Lunceford, Goodman, Holiday, and so many others of their era was what brought my wife Joyce and me together," Wein said. “This concert, dedicated to Joyce, will reflect the music of that golden age of jazz and is performed by musicians who knew and loved Joyce."
