Kimmel Center Presents Jazz Events For 2002-2003 Season

Oscar Peterson, Dave Brubeck, Gilberto Gil, Jason Moran, Terence Blanchard, Nancy Wilson & Ramsey Lewis, Nnenna Freelon, Chucho Valdes and more scheduled to perform.

PHILADELPHIA (August 28, 2002)-The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts has added more than 30 new events to a 2002-2003 season already brimming with world-class artists. The additional performances announced today will bring more world music and dance, pop music, holiday concerts, family shows and special events to the stages of The Kimmel Center and the Academy of Music. Tickets for all performances go on sale Tuesday, September 3rd at 10 a.m.

Performers from around the world, including Brazilian sensations Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, India's sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar, the Georgian State Dance Company, Argentina's Tango Buenos Aires, Japan's Kodo Drummers and Senegal's Youssou N'Dour will all take center stage in Verizon Hall. The Chieftains return for an encore performance of Irish music and Ballet Folkl
