As part of their Twenty Seventh annual workshop, the Vermont Jazz Center will hold two concerts: a Faculty Gala on Thursday August 15th and a Student Extravaganza on Friday August 16th, at the Loft at Cotton Mill Hill, in Brattleboro, Vermont.

FACULTY GALA: 8/15/02 at 8:00 PM at The Loft

The Summer Jazz Workshop Faculty Gala will take place on Thursday at 8:00 PM; the impressive roster of players performing in the concert includes Sheila Jordan, Jay Clayton, Valery Ponomarev, Howard Brofsky, Pete Yellin, Gene Rush, Dave Stryker, Harvey Diamond, Eugene Uman, Marcus McLaurine, Jamie MacDonald, Steve Johns, Stephan Kramer and maybe even Claire Arenius.

Two vocalists will head this year's line-up: Sheila Jordan is respected through-out the world as the one female singer who tends the bebop flame in the musical tradition of Charlie Parker. She will share the vocal chair with Jay Clayton, a chameleon-like singer who spans genres of modern classical music and jazz. Jay has recorded with Steve Reich, Fred Hersch, Glen Velez and many others.
