On Saturday, July 15 from 8:00 to 10:30 p.m., Jazz Guitar Legend Bucky Pizzarelli will return to the Hopewell Valley Bistro's Starlight Room. This event is just one of the many celebrations throughout this year honoring Mr. Pizzarelli's 80th birthday and the 63rd year of his prestigious jazz career. He will be joined by bassist and long time friend, Jerry Bruno.

John “Bucky" Pizzarelli was born on January 9, 1926 in Paterson, New Jersey. His first and only guitar teachers were his uncles, Pete and Bobby Dominic. At age 17, Bucky went on the road with Vaughan Monroe. After a stint in the service, Bucky performed as a member of the ABC and NBC staff orchestras, with Skitch Henderson, Mitch Miller and with Doc Severinson's Tonight Show Band. He also toured with the Benny Goodman Orchestra. Throughout his career, he has continued to maintain a busy performance schedule, appearing at Carnegie Hall, jazz festivals and venues across the country, overseas, the White House and has been featured on the soundtracks of several movies, most recently Woody Allen's “Sweet and Lowdown". These days, he's often heard in the company of guitarist/vocalist son, John Pizzarelli, and bassist, Martin Pizzarelli.

Bucky has many recordings as a leader as well as a featured sideman and continues to record frequently. His most recent recording Around the World in 80 Years includes songs that have been pivotal in his career and feature guest appearances by his son, John, Jr. and his daughter, Mary Pizzarelli. Bucky has performed and recorded with the Who's Who of Jazz that include Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Rosemary Clooney, Zoot Sims and Ray Brown, as well as, pop music artists Roberta Flack and Burt Bacharach. He has two honorary “Doctor of Music" degrees from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY and the University of Southern Illinois at Edwardsville and was recently elected to the American Jazz Hall of Fame. Bucky Pizzarelli is a superior guitarist who swing musicians in particular appreciate. You won't want to miss this event!

There will be community seating for parties less than six. Reservations are now being accepted at 609-466-9889. The Hopewell Valley Bistro is located at 15 E. Broad Street, Hopewell, NJ.
